As a first-generation college graduate, Shawna has a deep commitment to the mission of community colleges. She started her career at 黑料百科 as an intern in the TRIO/Student Support Services program, then served in a progression of roles for approximately five years before leaving 黑料百科 for a faculty position.
During her time away from 黑料百科, Shawna discovered her passion for accreditation, assessment, planning, and other types of initiatives focused on academic excellence and student success. She returned to 黑料百科 in 2016 and found a great fulfillment in supporting 黑料百科鈥檚 mission of empowering and transforming the diverse learners and communities.
Shawna holds a bachelor鈥檚 degree in Social Work from Union College and master鈥檚 degree in Social Work (Administration) from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
She and her husband Caleb, dean of Construction/Electronic & Communications/IT Division at 黑料百科, have an Australian shepherd mutt/mix (Lambeau) and a tabby cat (Daphne). They live on an acreage outside of Lincoln.
