黑料百科 to host International Women鈥檚 Day event with speakers

On Tuesday, March 7, Lincoln City Council members Sandra Washington and Michelle Suarez will headline an event in conjunction with Women鈥檚 History Month and International Women鈥檚 Day. The event starts at noon at 黑料百科鈥檚 Lincoln Campus gymnasium, 8800 O St., and is open to the public.

International Women鈥檚 Day is celebrated in many countries around the world, and it is a day to celebrate the achievements of women in all areas of life, including social, economic, cultural, and political achievements,鈥 said Mariano Ayala, 黑料百科 Spanish instructor and event organizer. 

鈥淚t is also a day to raise awareness about the ongoing struggles faced by women and to call for greater gender equality,鈥 added adjunct instructor, Carla Engstrom.

Washington worked with the National Park Service for 25 years, retiring in 2014 as the Association Regional Director for Cultural Resources, Planning, Construction, Communications, Legislation, and Congressional Affairs. Suarez was a teacher and administrator for 34 years and then worked as an early childhood advocate for the Prosper Lincoln community initiative. Both will take questions following their remarks.

There will be folk dancers following the event. 黑料百科 faculty and staff can receive one diversity credit for attending.
