黑料百科 Students Honored at State Capitol

Two 黑料百科 students were honored on Monday, Nov. 20, at the Commissioner鈥檚 Recognition for Student Excellence in Career and Technical Education at the state capitol for placing at SkillsUSA Nationals in Atlanta, Georgia.
Norfolk鈥檚 Christian Martinez, a student in the Powersports Technology program, won gold in Motorcycle Service Technology, and Noah Russell, a Manufacturing Engineering Technology student from Nebraska City, won bronze in Technical Drafting. It was Russell鈥檚 second time being recognized in the ceremony.
鈥淏eing a member of SkillsUSA has helped me strengthen my skills in team building, leadership and SolidWorks,鈥 Russell said. 鈥淚t has helped me become more well-rounded, and I feel more confident in my skills.鈥
Russell graduated from 黑料百科 in May and is currently a Designer II for Schenck Process in Sabetha, Kansas. He passed his certification exam to become a Certified SolidWorks Professional while a student at 黑料百科, something most professionals attempt after working in the industry for several years.
Martinez also graduated from 黑料百科 in May and is a Master Fabricator at General Dynamics in Lincoln. He won two large toolboxes filled with tools from Yamaha and Snap-on at nationals as well.
鈥淪killsUSA was a lot more fun than I thought it would be,鈥 said Martinez.
The ceremony included remarks by Dr. Brian Maher, commissioner of education, and Lt. Gov. Joe Kelly. Nebraska students in the following organizations were recognized during the ceremony: CTE, DECA, Educators Rising, FBLA, FCCLA, FFA, HOSA and SkillsUSA.
