Trevena Flores Receives Fulbright U.S. Scholar Award
Nicole Trevena Flores, social science program chair and global education coordinator at 黑料百科, received a Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program award for the U.S.-Germany International Education Administrators Award program. She will be in Germany for two weeks in November with 16 colleagues from across the U.S. to study the German higher education system, learn about the European Union and explore opportunities for collaboration and exchange.
鈥淚鈥檓 honored and excited to represent 黑料百科 and the state of Nebraska abroad,鈥� said Trevena Flores. 鈥淭his Fulbright award is an incredible opportunity to build on the strong foundation we鈥檝e created through our Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange program, our German language offerings and our upcoming German Education study abroad trip.鈥�
The allows participants to examine higher education mobility trends in the broader European context. Participants will visit higher education institutions including research universities and universities of applied science throughout Germany.
Trevena Flores brings valuable experience to this opportunity having recently completed the Education Partnership for Internationalizing Curriculum Leadership Fellowship Program hosted by Stanford鈥檚 Global Studies. The EPIC program brings together a cohort of mid- and senior-level community college administrators and minority serving institutions across the U.S. to participate in leadership training and design programs at their institutions to support international education.
鈥淚鈥檓 especially grateful to the supportive community at 黑料百科 and the invaluable guidance I received through my recent fellowship with Stanford鈥檚 EPIC program and my mentor there,鈥� she said. 鈥淲ithout their encouragement, I鈥檓 not sure I would have had the confidence to apply for the Fulbright. I look forward to deepening international partnerships and bringing new perspectives back to our students and community.鈥�

Since 1946, the program has provided over 400,000 students, scholars, teachers, artists and professionals the opportunity to study, teach and conduct research abroad. Participating governments and host institutions, corporations and foundations provide support to the program, which operates in over 160 countries worldwide.
