PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
Medical Expertise
You will learn the foundations of EMS, including patient assessment techniques and the recognition and treatment of medical diseases across all body systems, preparing you to handle diverse medical emergencies.
Emergency Treatment Skills
You will master essential EMS treatment methods including pharmaceutical administration, ECG interpretation and advanced airway management techniques that are critical for patient survival.
Trauma Management
You will develop skills in trauma assessment, injury recognition and patient management during critical situations, enabling you to respond effectively to accidents and injuries.

Can I continue my education after completing the Paramedic program?
Our program offers diploma and associate degree options, allowing you to continue your education toward a bachelor's degree.
Should I apply for the A.A.S. degree or the diploma?
The A.A.S. is designed for students who already hold a current and valid State of Nebraska Paramedic license or a current and valid National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians certification at the Paramedic level. Students graduating with the 黑料百科 paramedic diploma can ladder up into the A.A.S. by either taking the general education courses post program or transferring them in in accordance with applicable college policies. Students who do not hold the paramedic credentials should apply to the diploma and not to the A.A.S.
CAREER OUTCOMES
Paramedic
Paramedics respond to emergency calls, assess injuries and illnesses, provide emergency medical care and safely transport patients to hospitals or other healthcare facilities.
Flight Paramedic
Flight paramedics provide advanced emergency care to patients during air transportation. They typically work on helicopters or fixed-wing aircraft, delivering critical care in emergency situations and during transfers between medical facilities.
Critical Care Paramedic
Critical care paramedics provide specialized care for critically ill patients with complex medical needs during transportation between facilities. This career path requires additional education and relevant work experience.
Clinicals
In what term do students start clinicals?
Students complete clinical hours in the fall and spring. The summer clinical experience is an internship with a 911 EMS services, hospitals, and medical facilities.
Where do students participate in clinicals?
Students complete clinicals at local and regional EMS services.
In general, what time of day and days of the week can students expect to attend clinical?
Clinicals are scheduled Sunday - Saturday, 6 a.m. - Midnight, depending on available sites.
Will the program help student secure their sites? Do students need to contact clinical sites prior to acceptance/placement?
The clinical coordinator will place students based on clinical site availability. Students should not contact potential clinical sites.
How many clinical hours do students complete in the program?
550-600 hours

A.A.S. Getting Started
Application to the 黑料百科 Paramedic AAS program involves three steps. First, students must be a State of Nebraska licensed paramedic or currently hold a valid NREMT certificate at the Paramedic level. Second, students must achieve specific math and reading test scores or complete specific English and math college courses to be eligible to be admitted to the program. Third, once students achieve the required test scores or complete required courses, they can apply to the program.

Diploma Getting Started
Applying to an 黑料百科 health science program involves three steps. First, students must obtain State of Nebraska EMT licensure or NREMT (national registry) certification at the AEMT or EMT level. Second, students take required courses to prepare for their health science career. Third, once these courses are completed, they can apply to the program of their choice.

State Licensure or Certification Requirements
The Paramedic program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). Students completing this program will sit for the National Registry Paramedic (NRP) cognitive exam. Successful completion of this exam allows the candidate to become a National Registered Paramedic. This is a national certification and is recognized in every state. Almost all states use the National Registry certification as a basis for licensure. Privileges may vary by state, depending on each state鈥檚 laws and guidelines.
